Your bathroom and mosaic tiles

By Kelly Schroeder

It's surprising how many people are willing to overlook their bathroom when it comes to decoration. You'll find in some houses a kitchen brimming with character - marble counters picked out for their aesthetic qualities more than anything - while the bathroom is lucky if it sees a fancy toilet brush and a plant.

Bathroom mosaic tiles when used properly can create a wonderfully stunning effect that will have you feeling like you have taken a trip to the day spa. Available in a range of materials such as glass, natural stone and slate, as well as a huge variety of styles, there is something to create just the atmosphere you want.

Why not use natural stone mosaic tiles to create an environment that can make you feel relaxed, or use vibrant bright glass tiles as a way to make getting up in the mornings that little bit easier? While blues and greens are obvious colours to go for, there's nothing stopping you stepping outside the box and having the red bathroom you've always dreamed of.

Once you've decided what style and colour of tile you want you just have to find them. There are plenty of online stores that let you browse huge numbers of tiles, refining your search to only show the mosaics, so this shouldn't be a problem. Then you just need to get your tiles onto the wall or floor, which poses the question: to DIY, or not to DIY?

It might appeal to you to save a bit of money and try tiling yourself, but if you're making a considerable investment on some truly sumptuous mosaic tiles it's probably worth hiring a professional. After all, if you're trying to achieve a tranquil atmosphere bad grouting and uneven lines certainly isn't going to help.
