Using Home Remedies for Moles in Yard Removal

By Brian Thompson

There are so many ways for moles in yard removal. This might be good news but owners who have the unnecessary fortune of being infested with these pesky diggers are in for a rude awakening. Upon trying all these remedies, they will find that almost none of them work. And if ever they do, they will only provide temporary relief.

Spraying a concoction of castor oil, oil-based soap, water, and cayenne pepper is believed to effectively ward away these pesky diggers. This is because such combination of ingredients causes their skin to burn and itch. A very common ratio of these components that is widely known calls for an ounce of castor oil, a cup of oil-based soap, a quarter of a cup of cayenne pepper, and 3 cups of water. The resulting fusion is them sprayed on the yard grounds.

Another common household item used to repel moles is mothballs. These tiny white spheres are deposited inside the tunnels that were created by the moles where they should be able to work their magic in scaring off these mammals with its repugnant smell. When deposited plentifully and widespread, it should discourage the moles from digging more tunnels in your yard.

The plants daffodils, marigolds, alliums, and fritillarias have been known to repel moles. If you enjoy gardening, tending for these plants should not be a problem. Mole plant and castor beans are just as effective mole repellents as the aforementioned plants. However, they are not recommended to be grown in homes that have children and pets as they are highly dangerous when ingested. Take note that they will only keep a mole away from your yard and will not work for moles in yard removal.

The super spicy jalapeno pepper also shows to have repelling powers for moles; this is what a study in the Oregon State University Extension Office has found out. What you only need to do is to dig up small holes near mole tunnels where fresh jalapenos are then deposited. It should already then work its magic at keeping moles at bay.

Cats and dogs are very effective in moles in yard removal. Homeowners who keep them as pets are sometimes unaware that they own an effective remedy to get rid of these pests. Dogs are excellent diggers and should have fewer difficulties with catching moles. Cats, on the other hand, are very excellent predators whose stalking skills should be placed in good use and practice.

A rather extreme home remedy to fend off moles would be to force them out of their underground hideout by flushing water in it. Choose one or two mole holes in your yard and cover it with an inverted big jar. Cover all the other ones with heavy plywood. Insert a long hose through a solely open hole and turn on the water supply. Within 10 minutes, you should find a mole trapped in the jars that you can relocate to another place far away from yours. For a couple of weeks, do this moles in yard removal remedy several times.
