Finding Your Proper Table Configuration

By Christopher Kringal

The right bar table makes a huge difference for any home setting. Plus, if you're a bar owner then they're just a necessity. If you don't have much space then that's fine because the typical bar table is built for space optimization. You will be able to find a space-saving table or stool configuration with due diligence.

If you want a 19-21 inch high stool, then you can have these. You can even pair them up with a cafe style table and make great use of a smaller dining and drinking area. There are many options available to build the right table arrangement for your room. However, there are industry standards set in place so if you're looking for guidance it will be easy to find a starting point.

What if you know some people will want more leg room? What are your options then? Well, you can switch to a bistro height furniture arrangement. People commonly refer to these as pub height as well. You will find that the chairs are higher at about the 24 to 26 inch height. If you have limited space in the home bar then this is a great option for you since it's a space saver.

For those of you whom are taller or invite taller people over, there are high chairs and tables. These are Poser tables and work great for added height. You can use them to double as display or serving area and forget pairing them with chairs. Sometimes the bar needs more shelf space and fewer seats if you'd prefer to stand.

For the 32 inch and taller seating requirement, you'll want to shop for recreational tables. These are taller tables that suit a sports bar well; these are ones commonly seen in billiard halls and bars offering darts for games. With the added leg room and complement to other tall furniture, a recreational bar table is definitely what may be right up your alley. The tables can come in the 45 to 48 inch tall category which is great for tall people.

You'll enjoy the sheer option size for all bar furniture. You'll want to consider the area you're in and your clientele when choosing your furniture. If your patrons are taller, you may want to accommodate this by purchasing taller tables and chairs. If you're average height and setting up a bar system in your home, an average height table and chair configuration is best. Colors and stains abound so you'll never run out of great inspiration.
