By JB Smith

With the amount of career paths in design schools rocketing, it is smart that many colleges are supplying degrees through online classes. Online design schools like the Art Institute have advanced courses in several areas of design, fashion, multi media, design, and interior design, to name a few.

The Art Institute, for example, offers bachelor and associates degrees in many areas of design. Scholars must log in five days a week for a grand total of about twelve hours weekly. They also offer lectures by podcast, a convenient method to get the lecture experience. It can be downloaded onto an IPod for lecture attendance on the go. For those who are working full time and trying hard to get a degree, the convenience is paramount.

Some online design faculties charge by the credit hour, starting from $206-$475 per credit hour. Other faculties charge a flat fee for their degree programs, around $3,000.00. Naturally it varies from place to place and most schools have some type of repayment schedule.

Most major towns have schools that offer some kind of online programs. Being able to study at your own pace and still work while you learn is a massive advantage. Many folks couldn't afford to go to college fulltime.

Westwood University offers degrees in graphical design, game art, multimedia, visual communications and web design. American Intercontinental College, Ashford, Baker and Casella also offer nine degrees. The choice of curriculum is dependent upon the student's particular field of interest. Most will take art classes and get PC training in the utilisation of CADD (computer helped design and drafting) or Adobe Illustrator. Learning the technical aspect is important, of course, but in the end creativity and a good portfolio will land the job. When looking for an online programme, it is important to find one that inspires interaction with other scholars and teachers. This provides an opportunity to brainstorm and get some positive feedback. You'll need this in any job.

Graphic design employs roughly 20,900 folk and the industry is growing. Also growing are careers in fashion design, interior design, commercial and commercial design.

Good technical training, a great portfolio and creativity will help you get the job. There are lots of design roles available and whether you already work in the field or need a change in careers, attending an online design school will get you on your way to new and exciting career.
