How To Choose A Fence For Your Home

By James Macckinslay

If you want to put up a fence and are looking for the most suitable fence post solutions, the very first thing you should do is to identify the type of post which will suit your needs best. The type of posts used will determine what steps are needed for installation.

There are many different types of Fence Posts available today. They include Copper Federal Globe, Antique and Corner Picket Fence Posts. Others are Heavy Duty Deluxe, Calvary Portable, Panacea Classic Garden, Bamboo and Keystone steel-wire Fence Posts. Various materials available include copper, bamboo and steel wire.

Chain link and wood fences are popular with many homeowners. These materials are especially effective for confining pets and children.

When replacing an old fence, you've to remove the posts and fill in all the holes because they cannot be reused. Measure the perimeter of the area you want to fence starting from the gate. After getting the measurements, divide them by 3 feet.

A saw or nail gun may also be needed for this job. The builder must remove any existing fence and fill in any holes in the ground. The next step is to carefully measure the perimeter of the yard. Divide the result by three and the result is the number of fence posts to install.

After you are done with the markings, you can start digging the holes using a post digger. Now it's time to mark where the posts will go and methodically excavate the appropriate number of holes with a fence post digger.

The gate is the first portion of the fence to install. Use a string to ensure that all the posts are aligned properly.

Heavy twine or braces are handy to secure the posts in place and keep them from falling over before the concrete dries. Ideally, you should draw a rough sketch before you start.
